Electrik.NG is committed to your right to have your personal data deleted. This page explains what you can delete, what we are legally required to retain, and the exact steps to submit a deletion request — including for data collected through our WhatsApp bot integration with Meta.
This page satisfies Meta's requirement for a publicly accessible Data Deletion Instructions URL as part of the WhatsApp Business Platform and Facebook Login integration review process.
What you can request deleted
You may request deletion of:
Your Electrik.NG account and profile information (name, email, phone number).
Saved meter numbers and account nicknames.
WhatsApp bot conversation transcripts and the hashed phone number link between your WhatsApp account and Electrik.NG.
Wallet balance and wallet transaction history (subject to retention rules below).
Recharge schedules and SOS loan records.
Any data shared with us through Meta platforms in connection with WhatsApp Business messaging.
What we are legally required to retain
Nigerian financial regulations require us to keep certain records even after you request deletion. The following data is retained for the period shown and cannot be deleted on request:

After the applicable retention period, all retained data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
How to request deletion
You have three ways to submit a deletion request:

Delete your account from within the app (fastest)
Log in → go to Profile → scroll to Danger Zone → click "Delete My Account". Your account and all deletable data will be anonymised within 30 days. Transaction records subject to legal retention are pseudonymised (your name and contact details are removed; the financial record itself is kept).

Email us a deletion request
Send an email to privacy@electrik.ng with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include the email address or phone number associated with your account so we can locate your records. We will confirm receipt within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.
If you only want to remove the WhatsApp bot connection without deleting your Electrik.NG account: log in → go to WhatsApp Bot → click "Unlink WhatsApp", or send STOP to our bot number. Your hashed phone number and conversation transcripts older than 7 days are deleted within 30 days.
What happens after you request deletion
Confirmation: you will receive an email confirming we have received your request, with a reference number.
Processing: we locate and review all data associated with your account.
Anonymisation: your name, email address, phone number, and any other directly identifying fields are removed from all records within 30 days.
Retention of financial records: transaction records are pseudonymised — your identity is detached, but the financial record is retained as required by law.
Third-party notification: where technically possible, we notify sub-processors (e.g. email and SMS providers) to delete associated data.
Completion notice: you will receive a final email confirming what was deleted and what was retained (with the legal reason).
Note on Meta / WhatsApp data: Electrik.NG can delete the data we hold (phone hash, conversation transcripts). Data held directly by Meta Platforms — such as message metadata within WhatsApp's infrastructure — must be deleted via Meta's own tools. Visit Meta's data deletion portal or refer to the WhatsApp Privacy Policy for instructions on deleting data held by Meta.
